When most people look to someone who has done something worthy of being talked about, they dont think about family, at
least extended family. But, in my case I have a couple of people to look to. The two people that I am talking
about are my great-grandparents, Samuel and Shirley Mobley. Both of them have gone to see our heavenly father, but are
still in our hearts. I cannot begin to describe to you the amount of influence they had on me, or on the people that
they came in contact with on a daily basis. He retired as a supply systems analyst from the Naval Supply Center.
And after retirement was still active, all over his community. Both of them had been very active in the Martin
General Hospital Auxiliary, especially the Life Line Program. He was the first male president of the auxiliary for two
years. He also participated in ``Meals on Wheels'' and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. She was a past member
of the hospital auxiliary, as well as being active in the Woman's club of Williamston. She was also a member of
the Roanoke Arts and Crafts Guild. She painted unique local miniature wooden homes and churches, which he cut out, as
a reminder of 'Hometown USA'. He passed on January 9, 1998, and she passed on July 18. 2004. Their memories live
on in our hearts and we will cherish every moment that we spent with them.
